Screaming Lord Sutch era conhecido pelo seus shows com temas de horror, vestia-se como Jack, o Estripador, já fazendo o que daria sucesso ao mundialmente conhecido Alice Cooper.

Acompanhado por sua banda, The Savages, ele começou saindo de um caixão preto. Outros adereços incluídos punhais e facas, caveiras e "órgãos". Uma figura rarissima!!

O som é curioso e interessante principalmente pelos integrantes da banda, começando por Jimmy Page e Jeff Beck, raridade da boa! Recomendo!!!

Este é o segundo e cultuado como o melhor álbum da banda, não sei se é o melhor, mas o que isso importa, o fundamental é que é um grande disco, altamente recomendado!

A primeira formação da banda era, Charly (piano), Nito (flute), Alberto Rodríguez (drums), Alejandro Correa (bass) (later replaced by Rolando Fortich), Juan Carlos Bellia (guitar) and Carlos Piégari (guitar and vocals).

Peter Hammill - Over (1977)

Peter Hammill é a mais influente voz do progressivo. O pivot do Van Der Graaf Generation (VDGG) banda que formou em 1967 na Manchester University. Sua obsessão com o amor e fé perdidos, tempo, espaço e existência em si são os pilares de seu trabalho tanto com a banda quanto em seus álbuns solo. Foi também o seu principal compositor. A clássica formação do VDGG foi Hammill, Banton, Jaxon, Evans, juntos gravaram "Pawn Hearts", "Still Life" e "Godbluff". Peter Hammill tem, pelo menos, 30 álbuns na carreira solo, marcados por letras de extrema perspicácia (geralmente) e de uma recusa total ao compromisso. Sua música é complexa, muitas vezes brutal assim como lírica. Uma figura interessante cujos álbuns certamente merecem investigação ..! Link by Léo! Altamente Recomendado!!!

Daevid Allen - Bananamoon (1970)

Estou relendo um livro que tenho sobre rock progressivo pela milessima vez, é tanta informação que acabo sem saber nada, rsrsrs!

Enfim...Neste livro tem a estória do Daevid Allen, então aproveitando os links enviados pelo Léo aqui vai informação e musica para você meu ilustre visitante, Allen era autraliano, e já em 59 tocava com um trio em Melbourne, mudasse para Europa em 60 indo diretamente para Londres, anda pela França e Espanha também, em londres durante o ano de 62 conhece o poeta beat William Burroughs, que o convida para participar de um show chamado Poets Machine. Este show combinava poesia com
projeções de slides e música.

A partir dai Burroughs o convida para escrever e executar com musicos franceses sua obra "Ticket that explded".

Numa de suas passagens por Majorca, Daevid é procurado por Robert Wyatt, indicado pelo batera Niedorf. Wyatt estava saturado de sua carreira estudantil e procurava novos rumos.

Em 63 Allen estava em Londres e encontra Wyatt e seus colegas Hooper e Ratledge, dai surge o lendário Daevid Allen Quartet, que não dura muito, pois Allen era muito inquieto e volta a perambular pela frança e espanha, envolvendo-se principlamente
com eventos poeticos. Um deles em Paris onde além de Burrouhs estavam também Gregory corso e Allen Ginsberg, baluartes do beat generation.

Enquanto isso a vida de Wyatt segue em Londres com os irmãos Hooper, R.Sinclair e G.Flight, este ultimo substituido por K.Ayres, leia-se Wilde Flowers.

Daevid retorna a Londres e cria o Soft Machine, nome originario de uma obra literaria de Burroughs.

Primeira formação do Soft era Allen, Wyatt, Ayres, Ratledge e Nolan.

Paralelo a isso Allen tinha um grupo chamado Pop Poets, com Gilli Smith com quem viveu e Mike Chapman.

Após uma apresentação na França Allemn não consegue voltar a Inglaterra, foi detido sob a alegação de de que as leis de imigração haviam mudado. Com isso ele retorna a França.

O Soft continua sem Allen, dai sairão também o Matching Mole, Caravan e enfim...Egg, Gong, National Health, Hatfield anfd the North, Khan e por ai vai...

Este é o primeiro álbum solo do cara, indispensavel! Recomendadissimo!!

Um bom conselho seria ouvir ao menos um dos álbuns do Frumpy, uma banda já comentada e descrita aqui no blog, todos já sabem também o quanto admiro o trabalho de seus integrantes seja no Frumpy, Atlantis ou separados, sempre juntos de alguma forma. Vou pastar todos os álbuns da banda que tenho!!

O texto abaixo ilustra o que digo em inglês e foi retirado do site progarchive.

The four musicians who formed FRUMPY were all members of Irishman O' Brian-Docker's folkband The City Preachers, which he founded in Hamburg in 1965. The City Preachers played an excellent blend of American and British folk music and had, sometimes, over a dozen people on stage.

Discontent with singer Dagmar Krause, drummer Carsten Bohn left the City Preachers in November 1969 and took singer Inga Rumpf, French keyboarder Jean-Jacques Kravetz and guitarist Karl-Heinz Schott with him to form FRUMPY. In spring of 1970, FRUMPY started a successful tour of France.

The same year, they went on a 50 concert tour with SPOOKY TOOTH, and played with YES, HUMBLE PIE and RENAISSANCE. In autumn of 1970, FRUMPY released the first album "All Will Be Changed" which contained only own material with the exception of a Richie Havens cover. The Following year guitarist Rainer Baumann joined FRUMPY and played on the bands second LP "Frumpy 2", which was rapped in a round plastic bag.

In Germany, the album was well received and proved that rock music from Germany could live up to international standard. Their music combines jazz, soul and eastern elements with the keyboards as the most important instrument. FRUMPY topped the Musik Express poll as the most popular German rock group of the year and the newspaper FAZ assisted singer Inga Rumpf to be "the country's biggest individual talent", but a tour of England with MOTT THE HOOPLE failed to attract popularity in Britain. Musical differences with keyboarder Kravetz caused him to leave FRUMPY, in spring 1972, to record a solo Lp with Inga Rumpf singing one song.

But he returned for the recording sessions of FRUMPY's third LP "By The Way". But FRUMPY disbanded after a farewell concert on June 26, 1972. Inga Rumpf, Jean-Jacques Kravetz and Karl-Heinz Schott formed ATLANTIS.

The year 1990 saw a FRUMPY reunio and a new LP "Now!".

I.D.Company projeto das cantoras alemãs Inga Rumpf e Dagmar Krause, se você ainda não ouviu falar nem o cantar das duas ou de uma delas, don't worry, nem tudo esta perdido!

Ouça o disco, leia estas linhas e sua vida terá um novo sentido, exagero!? Maybe, sou suspeita! Adoro o trabalho da Inga Rumpf, e Dagmar tem uma bela voz também, juntas fazem o céu ficar mais claro, o dia fica mais quente e tudo se transforma em harmonia, quanta poesia, heim!! Recomendo o álbum.

I.D. Company é um álbum de Inga Rumpf ("I.") e Dagmar Krause ("D."). Realizado em 1970. As duas começaram com a banda The City Preachers em 1968, bem jovens e fazendo covers de musicas como water boy, depois partem para este projeto e logo após Inga segue com Frumpy e Atlantis, Dagmar com Slapp Happy, Henry Cow e Art Bears, entre outras companhias e trupes.

I love Paris!!! Alguém conhece esta música da banda "Les Negresses Verté"? Muito boa!!!!! Alias O Les Negresses Verté é um grupo extrememente interessante, pop (?), digamos que fazem uma orgia musical! Sensacional!!! Enfim...Vamos ao que viemos...

XII Alfonso é outra banda de prog Francesa, sensacional!!! Com vocal feminino e muito legal, instrumental elaborado, mais uma da nova safra de ótimos musicos. Este é o primeiro álbum da banda, muito melodico.

Pulsar - memory ashes (2007)

Quem tem o hábito de passar por aqui já conhece um pouco do meu gosto musical, e também sabe que tenho uma coleção de bandas preferidas, entre elas esta outra banda Francesa, Pulsar é sem nenhuma duvida uma das que poderia chamar de banda de cabeceira, se um dia tiver que escolher 100 álbuns pra levar pr'uma ilha deserta Pulsar com certeza estará em minha lista. Deixando os devaneios de lado, este disco me foi apresentado outro dia, de todos os álbuns da banda este era o único que ainda não conhecia, ou melhor que não tinha, adorei o disco, muito bom! Uma grata surpresa aja visto que o álbum é de 2007 e a banda não gravava desde 1989, quase vinte anos depois os caras nos brindam com este belíssimo disco, que entra para os the best da banda, juntamente com Pollen, Halloween e The Strands of the Future, para mim até então os melhores do grupo.

Este álbum além de ser uma jóia rarissima do rock nacional é também parte de minha adolescência, frequentava Petropolis nas férias do colégio e fins de semana e os meninos da banda também frequentavam a cidade e alguns até moraram lá, então não só conheci o trabalho da banda, mas fui amiga, fã, frequentava a casa do Inglês e do Thomas, era amiga do Peçanha (que namorava uma louca e grande amiga) e acompanhava os shows, tinha 17 anos. Bons tempos!!!

Então é com muita emoção que faço o aplic, para os que não conhecem e até mesmo para os que puderam ter a chance de ver ao vivo e a cores ou mesmo ter o lp original, esta banda é muito especial pra mim. Altamente Recomendada!!!

Brainbox - same (1969)

Diria que além do fato de ter Jan Akkerman e Pierre van der Linden (Focus), o que valeria a pena só pela curiosidade, é um ótimo álbum, com uma versão bastante interessante de Summertime (from "Porgy and Bess"). Uma pedra rara e valiosa, altamente recomendado!!

Altamente recomendado! Excelente álbum, talvez o melhor de muitos ótimos álbuns gravados por este espetacular tecladista, este disco é sublime!!

Uma grata supresa até mesmo para os fãs do Deep Purple, completamente diferente do que se poderia esperar de um álbum solo de um integrante do D.P., e ai é que esta a verdadeira magia do álbum, imperdivel!

Love - out here (1969)

Out Here is the fifth album by the American rock band Love, released in December 1969 on Blue Thumb Records in the United States, and Harvest in the United Kingdom.

With the classic line-up of Love a memory, the group metamorphosized into a more experimental and free-flowing group, bearing little resemblance to its past except for the presence of leader Arthur Lee. Recording three LPs worth of material with his new group, Lee gave one to Elektra Records in order to fulfill the contract that had been in place for nearly four years. Four Sail, the result of Elektra's cherry-picking, was released in August 1969.

Arranging the two remaining LPs into a double album, Lee signed a new contract with EMI-distributed Blue Thumb Records and oversaw the release of the seventeen-track Out Here in December 1969, a mere matter of months after Elektra released "Four Sail". Featuring Lee and company tackling funk, rock, ska and soul with ease, it proved that while Love may have been past their apex, that they were still capable of producing entertaining and thought-provoking songs.

The Out Here title came from the name of the cover painting, created by Burt Shonberg in 1969. It is considered by some to be one of Shonberg's best works.

Com vocal feminino para quem não conhece a banda Sonja é considerada uma das musas do prog pela voz e belaza, Darryl Way dá um show ao violino, imperdivel!

Utopia – “Todd Rundgren's” (1974)

Banda Americana formada p/ guitarrista Todd Rundgren, que antes já havia feito diversos trabalhos solos. A banda lançou seu primeiro álbum em 74, o som é basicamente progressivo mas temperado c/ uma mistura de estilos que resultou num álbum extremamente interessante, depois desse álbum a banda mudou a formação e o som ficou mais pop.

Novalis - Augenblicke [1980]

In late Autumn of 1971, bass player Heino Schünzel from the band Marquis and singer Jürgen Wenzel put an ad in a Hamburg daily: "Looking for drummer and organ player for new rock band." Hartwig Biereichel, who had played with Greenlight until 1970, and Lutz Rahn from jazz-rock group Capricorn replied to the ad, and when the new band played their first gig in the Fabrik in Hamburg in 1972, they were present on stage as well. The quartet called itself Novalis after the most important German poet of early romanticism. Their music, a heavy organ rock, was compared to the sounds of bands such as King Crimson and Pink Floyd.

Mario Millo - Epic III (1979) NEW LINK

First solo outing by former frontman of Sebastian Hardie and Windchase.

Primarily a guitarist and singer, Millo plays in a style that to my ears is reminiscent of both Steve Howe and Andy Latimer. He sings in the same range as John Wetton, although his voice is much smoother and less affected. The music on this record is a mixture of Symphonic Prog, lite Fusion, Pop songs and a ballad or two.

In other words, it's not entirely a Prog record, but the other influences aren't unpleasant at all - he has a nice gift for hooks and all of the material is well-crafted and oozes professionalism.

The standout number is the 14 minute title track Epic III, which shows a clear Yes influence, and is a tour-de-force of Prog Rock stylings, featuring excellent guitar work, plenty of 70's keyboards goodness, twisting rhythms and beautiful harmonies.

This record won't blow anyone away, but it's a very worthwhile listening experience and a fine piece of work from one of Australia's top musicans.

Zarathustra – Same (1972)

Ótima Banda Alemã dos anos 70. O som é um hard progressivo no melhor estilo Purple, Atomic Rooster e Vanilla Fudge. Muita criatividade e um elevado nível de qualidade musical. Essa banda merece toda a atenção dos amantes do bom e velho rock alemão.

Amos Key - First Key (1973)

Ótima banda alemã dos anos 70. A classically influenced, and keyboard driven band from Germany. Their only release remains 1973's 'First Key." To show their dedication to the masters, the album was dedicated to Bach, Beethoven, and Shumann. They are mostly compared to Eskeption and The Nice. Unlike many of their contemporaries, they favored shorter songs over longer epics. Around 1975 Amos Key again entered the studio to record another album. Unfortunately it was not to be. The album was never finished, but a few demos have come to light. Since that time, little is known about the band members. O Blog agradece ao Léo pelo link.

Banda da Filândia. Quem tiver esse LP, quarde com carinho, pois o brinquedinho custa de 500 a 1000 euros na mão de colecionadores, é uma raridade. A banda tem outros dois álbuns, em 1978 ela lançou com outro nome, Harvest, o "Flying High, Running Fast" e em 2004, voltou ao nome original e, lançou o "Scumbag".

Realmente uma coisa rara, um rock classificado de eclético, vindo da Alemanha, quase Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Soft Machine e Van Der Graaf Generator. Eu disse "quase". Pelos instrumentos dá pra ter uma idéia melhor. Um som típico dos anos '70. O álbum tem de tudo um pouco, muito bonito. Agradecimentos ao Mestre Jediel.
