Grateful Dead - Wake of the flood (1973)

Grateful Dead é Grateful Dead.

Grateful Dead -- que numa tradução livre para o português significa algo como “morte agradável” -- foi uma banda de rock americana formada em 1965 na cidade de São Francisco, Califórnia, berço do movimento hippie. O grupo era conhecido por seu estilo único e também por seu ecletismo, já que fundia em suas composições elementos do folk, bluegrass, blues, contry, jazz, psicodélico, space music e gospel, além das performances que se transformavam numa longa sessão de improvisações. “A música deles”, escreveu Lenny Kaye, guitarrista de Patti Smith, “alcança níveis que a maioria dos outros grupos sequer sabiam da existência.”

Tanta singularidade deu origem a fãs que chegavam a seguir a banda de show em show por anos. Os admiradores mais fanáticos do Grateful Dead ficaram conhecidos como deadheads. A louvação é tanta e tão duradoura que leilões realizados em 2007 com objetos pessoais de um dos principais expoentes da banda, Jerry Garcia, morto em 1995, chegaram a arrecadar mais de um milhão de dólares. Banheira, pia e até mesmo o vaso sanitário do guitarrista e vocalista do Grateful Dead foram arrematados por fãs interessados em guardar um souvenir de uma das lendas do rock.


O disco wake of the flood, pra mim é simplesmente sensacional, todo ele! Altamente recomendado!

Chick Corea - MY SPANISH HEART (1976)

Em 1976 Chick Corea gravou 4 álbuns THE LEPRECHAUN, THE ROMANTIC WARRIOR com o Return To Forever, COREA/HANCOCK/JARRETT/TYNER e MY SPANISH HEART.
Tenho os quatro, sendo o primeiro o meu favorito, mas, por algum motivo
começarei a postar pelo último da lista, pois são todos muito bons.

MY SPANISH HEART é um álbum delicioso, altamente recomendendado!

The Next Morning (Sensacional Cult Álbum de 1972)

Formada em New York com uma formação bastante curiosa: quatro músicos oriundos da ilha de Trinidad, no Caribe (mais o vocalista Lou Phillips, das Ilhas Virgens), The Next Morning é uma descoberta impressionante. Eles lançaram seu único álbum em 1972 por uma gravadora nanica (Roulette) e quase nada se ouviu falar deles, sendo que o original é até hoje disputadíssimo por colecionadores (e a única edição em CD saiu em 1999). Com influências do hard rock psicodélico sessentista (Hendrix, Cream, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly) o álbum dos caras traz faixas muito boas, como as ótimas"Back to the Stone Age" e "A Jam of Love". Totalmente recomendado.

Paul Butterfield Blues Band - 2 álbuns

Numa merecida homenagem ao Grande Paul Butterfield, falecido em 1987, trazenmos aqui uma das melhores bandas do blues sessentista. O primeiro álbum é o lendário "East-West" (1966), com sua histórica faixa-título, o blues mais psicodélico de todos os tempos, além de ótimas covers (Get out my life woman, Mary Mary). O segundo álbum, "The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - The Original Lost Elektra Sessions ", traz raridades do início de carreira, como a versão de "Good morning Little Schoolgirl" e blues sensacionais como "That's Allright".
